This afternoon I took Adam and Mason to the final Winthrop University home baseball game of the season. Attending as many baseball games as we can is on our agenda for the summer – this was #2. I got this picture as we were heading out after a 5-4 Winthrop victory. Great afternoon.
At the beach
This week I spent four days at Myrtle Beach with our Forever Young older adult group at the beach – so much fun. On Wednesday we went on a boat tour down the intercoastal waterway. It was a great trip. Perfect weather, and the tour was so fun and interesting and informative. I took this picture standing on the back of the boat. The second picture I took on our way home. We are all excited because a Buck-ee’s is opening in South Carolina for the first time, and it’s right on the way to the beach. Evelyn & I were so excited about checking it out on our way home, but then found out it doesn’t open until Monday. Dang it.
Ocean Views
A couple of pictures I took of the ocean when we were at Myrtle Beach earlier this week – the first from our hotel room balcony, and the second as I was out walking at sunrise. The beauty of the place just takes my breath away.
Flower beds are growing
Here are a couple of pictures from last week of our yard. The flower beds are always a work in progress, but they surely do look green and healthy this spring.
Clover Middle School Spring Chorus Performance
Last night we were at the auditorium in town for the middle school chorus concert. Mason performed with the sixth grade chorus, and Clara was in the eighth grade chorus, as well as the Summit Singers – sort of the honors chorus. I got this picture of Clara singing with the 8th graders. I only had my phone with me, so the pictures didn’t turn out great, but Clara is on the next to back row, third from the right.
Cousins together afterwards. So proud of these kiddos.
Baseball Playoff Game
For the first time in the history of the school, Clover High’s baseball team won the regional championship this year. Tuesday night Jeff & I went to watch the first playoff game – which happened to be against Rock Hill High, where Charlie goes to school. Char asked me what team’s colors I wore to the game, and I told him I decided to wear a Winnie the Pooh T-shirt. That seemed safer :-). I got this picture during the National Anthem before the game, and it was the only one I took all night. Just too much excitement. Rock Hill won 2-1, and they play again tomorrow in the elimination game. Pretty exciting.
Visit with Bobby and Shirley
Monday Sherri & I got to Hayesville, NC, to spend some time visiting with our cousins Bobby and Shirley West. Such a fun time. We were at their house for several hours, and then headed to El Cancun for a Mexican lunch before Sherri & I headed home. Such a fun day.
The view from the restaurant windows of Lake Chatuge was lovely.
Zoee’s Birthday Party
Last Sunday night I met Sherri in Lavonia, GA, to spend the night, so we could head out early to visit our cousins Bobby and Shirley in Hayesville, NC – Lavonia is about halfway for each of us, and that way we could ride the rest of the way together & have extra visiting time :-). We hadn’t talked about it, but I was hoping we’d be able to see Sherri’s daughter Amber, who lives in Lavonia. I was so excited to find out when we got there that it was Amber’s youngest daughter Zoee’s 13th birthday, and we were heading out to her party. I got this picture of the birthday girl, in her favorite dress, when we got to the park where they were having the celebration.
The view of the lake at the party location was beautiful.
Festival of Tables
Today, after missing the past two years due to Covid, we were finally able to have our annual Festival of Tables celebration at church again. As always, the tables just blew me away. This table, Salute to Soldiers, was one of my favorites – but they were all amazing, and I think there were 16 different ones. The detail that talented people put into their creations blows me away.
One highlight of the day for me was that Mrs Rachel was there. We lived next door to her when we first moved to Clover 40+ years ago, and she had not been to the church since Covid first hit. This is her with her daughter Nancy. It was just so good to see her again.
