Natural Bridge, Kentucky

The next morning before we headed on to Indiana, we spent the morning back at the Red River Gorge area. To get to this side of the park, we had to drive through this one lane tunnel. It was crazy. You just had to stop before you drove into the tunnel to make sure no one was coming in the opposite direction. The tunnel was originally built for trains in the 1920’s, and at one time the ceiling was two feet lower – until a train carrying logs got stuck, & they had to dig out more of the ceiling until the train could get through. Crazy.

Right next to the Red River Gorge was the Natural Bridge State Park, and we wanted to ride the chair lift to the top of the arch there. As we had found things the day before, it was beautiful.
