First Ice Storm Puzzle

Very thankful that Andy & Amy shared this puzzle with us when we saw them sometime recently – it kept us busy for several days while the cold and ice were keeping us in the house. St Thomas – 1000 pieces.

Working a Puzzle

Jeff & I have spent a good bit of time during these recent cold days working on a jigsaw puzzle. This is his normal puzzle working stance. I do not know how his back or neck stand it, but I’ve seen him standing like this for two hours at a time to get the pieces right. To each his own, I guess – right?

After Adam’s Game

We were in Rock Hill Saturday to watch Adam playing church league basketball again, and it was their first defeat of the season – by two points in overtime. It was an exciting game, needless to say. I got this picture after the game: Coach Andrew, Assistant Coach Charlie, and Adam. Fun times.

Clara’s Senior Recital

Every one of the members of the CHS Choraliers take private voice lessons all year long, and every year between their Christmas concert and their spring musical, they give a recital when every member must sing a solo. Clara sang the song “Home” from Beauty and the Beast, which is her favorite movie. It only made her grandmother a little emotional. She did such a beautiful job, and we were so proud.

Afterwards with her very, very proud grandparents.

Walk for Peace

Tuesday my friends Evelyn, Meg, & I headed to Great Falls – about an hour from here – to see the Buddhist monks who are walking from Texas to Washington, DC, to promote peace. Our plan was to drive in that direction, and when we ran into tons of traffic we would stop and wait for them. As it turned out when we got to where they were, they were having lunch at the fire department in Great Falls, so we stopped there. We didn’t get to hear all of their talk, but were there for some of the question and answer session, which was very interesting and fun. It was a great time.

Before they started back walking, we headed on down the road, so we could actually see them on the road. I got this picture of all of the policemen and other departments that were clearing the road before them. It really was a beautiful experience.

Mason’s Game

We really are about halfway into Mason’s JV basketball season, but he absolutely hates to have his picture made, so I haven’t taken any – until last week, when I tried to sneak & get one. It obviously didn’t turn out very good, but you can sort of see him dribbling towards the basket to take a shot.

I got this terrible picture of the scoreboard after the game. It was a home game, so Clover came out on top.

Late Lunch with June

Last week, before June started back to Winthrop for the spring semester, she & I went out for lunch before things got so busy we would hardly be able to get together, as it usually does once school starts back. As always, when June gets to choose where we eat, she picked Mexican, and it was delicious. I got this picture while we were eating.

At the Dentist

A few weeks ago Lindee hit a deer on the way to work. She wasn’t hurt, but we couldn’t say the same thing about her car, so it’s been in the shop ever since. Luckily it was while Mallory was home on Christmas break, so Lin could use her car. And one of those days, when Lindee was using her car, Mallory had a dentist appointment, so I took her. It was just a day or two before she was due to return to school, and she could certainly have driven my car, but I figured that was a little more time I had to spend with her, so I took her And funny thing – she still goes to the pediatric dentist. When Lindee was pregnant with Mal, for some reason the enamel never formed on her teeth, so Mallory has spent lots and lots of time with this dentist her whole life, and I think she & Dr Katie have just bonded so strongly that Mallory would go to her forever if that was possible. I understand it is not, though – just as long as she is on her mom & dad’s insurance. Anyway, I had never even been to a pediatric dentist office before, and it was SO cute. I especially loved this playroom 🙂
