Last weekend we had two college graduations; this weekend we had two dance recitals. Both were huge celebrations of people we love more than we can say.

Baseball in the morning, and dance recital in the afternoon. During the busy month of May I’m pretty sure that’s a fairly typical schedule for a lot of grandparents, but it surely made for a special day for us.
Wednesday of this week I went with Mason’s preschool class on their field trip to a farm here in town. It was such fun watching how much the kids loved it. As we were leaving, Mason told me it was the Awesomest Place in the World! This first picture if of the kids as they were all gathering, and Ms. Wanda, the preschool director, was asking, “Who wants to go on a nature hike?” “Who wants to ride a horse?” That’s Mason in the navy shirt right in front of the camera, and his hand went up immediately at every single question
Playing in the creek was definitely a highlight of the day. We tried to get a picture of Mason’s group before they got out, but as you can tell, that was pretty much an exercise in futility. This is the three year old class, after all, & they were, in fact, playing in water. You can barely see the top of Mason’s head – the light brown hair right next to Ms. Wanda. What a fun morning.
Sunday morning we were up bright and early to head to Boone, to be there for my niece Olivia’s graduation from Appalachian State – my second ceremony of the weekend!
Her post graduation celebration was held at a beautiful city park on top of one of the many mountains surrounding Boone. And isn’t one of the best parts of a graduation getting to celebrate with family and friends that you don’t get to see every day? Here is Olivia with her Aunt Amy, who drove over with Andy from Murfreesboro for the big day. And what a great one it was. Congratulations, Lig!
What a wonderful day Saturday was! Our niece-in-law (is that a word?) graduated from Mercer University in Atlanta with her Pharm. D. degree – at least I think that’s what it’s called. After years of hard work, she is officially a pharmacist! Graduation was at 8:30 AM, so we met at a McDonalds on the way to grab breakfast, & just took it with us to get there in time to get the best seats.
After the ceremony – and virtually none of my pictures turned out there – we headed back to Greg and Tabitha’s house for a ceremony celebrating our new family pharmacist! Pam and Tab’s dad Randy had cooked an absolute feast: barbecue, potato salad, two kinds of cole slaw, chips – delicious! And the decorations and activities were so very, very cute. Among other things, they spray painted a twister board on the yard – this is before it was finished, but how cute is this? AND I had to leave for the four hour drive home before the games actually started (not, however, before I ate that yummy meal), so didn’t get to see it in use, but thought this was such a good idea. We may definitely need to try it sometime when the kids are here soon. Just a very special day for a very special young lady. Congratulations, Tab!
