Sunday Walk

After Jeff & I had finished doing our touristy thing in Charleston we still had some time to fill before we were to be at Dennis & Cinnamon’s house, and we ran up on a walking trail, so were able to get in some steps. I took this picture as we were walking by the water. It may be a little blurry because I may have still been shaking. I had just startled a hawk that came shooting up out of the woods right beside me, and trust me, he startled me, too. Pretty cool, though – although no picture of that 🙂

Sunday in Charleston

Sunday morning we checked out of our hotel, and then had time to kill until we needed to be at Dennis & Cinnamon’s for supper. We headed over to explore the campus at The Citadel. It was a pretty cool place, but I’m not going to lie – Jeff & I had just been talking about The Lords of Discipline, and it sort of creeped me out a little bit.

From there we headed over to the Angel Oak, which I had always wanted to visit, but just never got a chance. Even as crowded as the park was, it really was impressive.

One the dance floor

So much fun at Allison and Logan’s reception, with almost everyone getting out on the dance floor. Here is Carrie getting Grandma going in the action.

Lindee had the camera and got pictures of Jeff & me dancing – and Mallory and Clara spectating 🙂

Charleston Pictures Part 1

This weekend we are in Charleston celebrating Jeff’s niece Allison’s wedding to her longtime beau, Logan. It was an absolutely beautiful day, and we spent part of it at Battery Park. Gorgeous.

The wedding was that afternoon, and it was as sweet and perfect as it could possibly have been. I got this picture of the groom, Logan, when they were introducing the wedding party to kick off the reception. He seems like such a great kid.

Budding Azalea

We are in Charleston for a few days, for Jeff’s niece’s Allison’s wedding and a little getaway time. The one thing that made us sad to be leaving home is that some of the azaleas were just getting ready to bloom. This purple one has never done that good, but this year it is absolutely covered in buds. I’m hoping we don’t completely miss its flowers before we get home next week.

At the soccer match

This evening we were in town watching the Clover Middle School Lady Blue Eagles take on York. This was about the best action shot I got of Clara (#20) – although at least I have a camera again, so I am very happy with that. It was a great game – Clover won maybe 7-0 – and best of all, Clara scored her first goal of her soccer career. Needless to say, I did not get a picture of that – way too excited – but it was a special moment for us all.

Back at the Track

The running track, that is. We were back at Rock Hill High, cheering Charlie and his Bearcat teammates on in their meet against district rivals Ridgeview yesterday. I got this picture of Charlie in action.

Tuesday Pix

Great day. Meg & I started out with breakfast at a new little place she’d found in Lowell, & then went walking at George Poston Park, also in Lowell. I’d been there two or three times to watch Clara play soccer, but had never actually been into the park itself. It was definitely the nicest county park I’d ever been to. Trails were well marked, and we enjoyed taking a break at the benches by the lake.

That evening was the District Art Show in town, and Clara had a piece chosen to be displayed. It was called onomatopoeia art, and you can’t tell in this picture, but it was three dimensional – the splat was bouncing off the page :-). Then supper at Eagles Nest to celebrate. Just a fun day.
