Winthrop Dance Team

A few weeks ago Jeff & I headed over to the volleyball game at Winthrop University, to see June and her dance team in action. I’m so glad we went when we did, because she quit the next week. She really had no idea how much time the team would take up, and although she loved it and loved her coaches and teammates, she didn’t like having to miss so many classes for the different events. They were very understanding, and the coaches told her if her schedule is less hectic next semester, she would always have a place on the team, which I thought was so kind. Here are a couple of pictures.

Adam’s New-to-Him Car

Sunday afternoon that week Adam came over to show us his new car. It’s not new at all, but he was excited about it, and we were excited for him. He didn’t have a long time – not long enough to take us for a ride, so we’ll be looking forward to that next visit.

Harrison Ford’s Grilled Cheese

I had been seeing a recipe floating around on the internet for how Harrison Ford makes his grilled cheese sandwiches, so I decided to give it a try. Mostly what it is is you add sliced tomatoes and Worsestershire sauce. We thought they were only OK. Of course I’m sure he uses fancier bread and cheese, and I’m sure if the tomatoes were in season it would have made a difference. But we love grilled cheese sandwiches anyway, so of course we still enjoyed them.

October Pix

It has been almost a month since I downloaded any pictures from my camera, and since this is kind of a down day around here, I thought I’d do a little bit of catching up. The Saturday before Halloween I headed out to the Trunk or Treat at Bethany ARP Church, to see the car that Charlie and his girlfriend Sydney decorated. They did a great job, but my pictures of their car didn’t turn out great – to put it mildly. I did get this one, though, of one of the trucks in the parking lot as I was heading back to my car :-).

That evening Meg & I went with another friend, Linda, to the Basilica at Belmont Abbey College – not far from here – to see the Chamber Singers from the Charlotte Chorale in concert. It was absolutely incredible. It’s not my regular type of entertainment, but I am so, so glad we went. Beautiful.

Final Regular Season Game

Friday night was the last football game of the regular season for the Rock Hill High School Bearcats, and it was another Bearcats victory. Great way to go into the playoffs in a couple of weeks!

Got this picture of Adam and his very proud Papa afterwards.

Taco Cupcakes

I have seen so many recipes that sounded fun online lately that I just decided I would start making some. One evening this past week I made Taco Cupcakes. They actually were pretty much tacos, but instead of taco shells, you put them in wonton wrappers in a muffin tin. Yummy.

At the State Fair

I had actually never been to the South Carolina State Fair, but yesterday afternoon Lindee & I headed down, because Mallory has been interning at the 250SC pavilion – her first paid internship! The 250SC Commission is a group that is coordinating all of the celebrations in the state leading up to the 250th birthday of our nation. It could not be more up her alley. The display in the pavilion, about the Revolutionary War battles that were fought in SC, was pretty amazing. Mal said their quote is that the revolution started in New England, but it was won in South Carolina :-). The displays were so varied and so interesting. We especially loved the one about women in the Revolutionary War.

After Mallory finished up working we went to another building where they had an exhibit from the Anne Frank House on the USC campus. So, so interesting. I am really wanting to go visit that place soon – Mal has been talking about it all the time she’s been down there. I hope you can enlarge this enough to read it.

Halloween Decorations

Jeff had said he wasn’t decorating for Halloween this year, but then decided to get out just a few things, and now all the boxes have been pulled out, and he is busy as can be. When I went in the kitchen the other morning when I woke up, apparently he had been up working on it during the night, because I almost jumped out of my skin when I glanced up and saw these guys coming out of the microwave 🙂

Final Home Game

Friday night was Adam’s final home game of the season. He got in the game a good bit, so it was fun to watch. I got this shot of him out on the field – #45 in the black.

And this one after the game. Being their last game, it was a Black Out. All of the players wore the black sleeves on their arms and/or legs – Adam had one of each :-).
