Charlestown, Day 1

Yesterday morning we headed back to Charlestown with Andrew, Jenny, & the boys to spend some time with David, Marcelene, & Mark.  The Longs’ yard was as beautiful as ever.  Here are the guys standing in front of the planter their Grandma & Grandpa made out of an old wash basin salvaged from the powder plant.  I think it’s beautiful.

Charlie got the chance to run on the very same track where his Papa ran 50 years ago.  We thought that was pretty cool.

Founders Day

Our 2019 Indiana vacation started off in Charlestown, at the annual Founders Day celebration.  It could not have worked out better – Mark and the Paul Boggs Band were playing on the square, so we got to Monroe Street not too long before time to head up to listen to them.  As always, they were great – especially the drummer.

Lots of dancing and celebrating going on – Jeff got this picture of his mom dancing with one of their friends.  Fun way to kick off our week.

At the pool

Charlotte’s granddaughter is in town, and yesterday Mallory, Clara, and I went over so they could swim together.  They swam for probably two solid hours before they got out for a snack break and to play in the playhouse for a while, and hadn’t been back in the pool for probably 15 minutes before it started thundering.  They got out, and Lindee and the girls headed home – and then the storm blew over, and they could have continued swimming for a couple of more hours.  Next time!

Snake!

Sunday morning when Jeff walked up on the front porch, he said he thought one of the kids had left a bandanna wrapped around the railing.  But no, it was a big ol’ black snake.  He took pictures to show me, but luckily he found it while I was still at church.  Ack!

Basketball Camp

Thursday morning Jeff & I met Lee at the high school gym to see Mason’s end-of-camp program.  Here is Mason sitting patiently for things to get underway.

We had Keaton that day.  Jeff was watching him while I was taking pictures – and we were standing up in the balcony.  Keaton is a climber in the making, and he was loving the railings.  Making me a little nervous, though.

LAST Tuesday pictures

Every Tuesday during the summer our church has an activity for the kids – just something lowkey for them to spend time together.  Last Tuesday to kick off the summer we went to the splash pad and Clover Community Park.  Charlie and Adam were here for the day, so they were here.  My friend Evelyn got this picture of our table while we were picnicing.

After we headed home for a nap, we were off to the rehab center to visit with Gran.  And then just as we were leaving Meg came in to see her, too, so I got this picture of all of them before we left.

June and Lydia

I’m catching up on pictures for the last ten days, starting with this one from a week ago Sunday.  It was taken at the reception at church for the Wilkes, who are leaving to serve a church in North Augusta.  Their daughter Lydia has just graduated from high school, and she has been so special to June the entire eight years they have been at Clover.  I took my camera with me to the reception just to get this picture of them together.
