Pix from Earlier

I have been having some trouble getting my pictures off of my camera – and you know that will never do – so yesterday I finally tried using another cable. It didn’t work great, but at least I could get them off. These are from several weeks ago when I went over and toured Mal’s work. Her supervisor was giving us a tour, and she pointed out this stack of scrapbooks and as something Mal was working on to catalog. On the scrapbooks she entered individual items, I think she said. Wow.

That evening we went to Food Truck Thursday uptown, where our friend Bob Dowd and the band he is in – Sixty Something – was the entertainment. Had a great Greek sandwich and enjoyed the oldies music. Unfortunately in this picture I took to show the mural on the wall behind them Bob is on the far right – right behind the speaker. Dang it.

Latest Puzzle

I mostly worked this puzzle last month when Jeff was Indiana, but I’ve just left it out on the table to keep admiring it – and hoping that the puzzle of that last puzzle piece will come to mind. You can see the last piece over on the left hand side – and very near it, the one piece that is missing in the puzzle. I don’t know where the mixup occurred, because the puzzle was brand new sealed in the box when I got it out. How interesting.

Outing With Clara

Last week Clara & I went out for a movie (“Twisters”) and lunch at Luigi’s as a last summer hurrah before she started back to school on Thursday. The movie was good, the food was great, and the company was out of this world.

Wall Project

When we were cleaning out Momma’s house before we sold it, the only thing Clara said she wanted as the wall where they had marked their heights for years and years. We thought that was crazy, but then we couldn’t leave it there, so Jeff cut it out and replaced the sheetrock in the wall. It came out in pieces, though, and even though it has been a year and a half, we finally got busy this week to get it put back together so we can get it to her. Hopefully we’ll finish it up soon so we can get it off of our dining room table 🙂

Afternoon visitors

Yesterday afternoon we looked out the back window and had quite a little gathering out there.  There actually was another fawn with them, for a total of four, and the one eating had antlers, which we almost never see.  I am not sure if all deer that have antlers are bucks, but that’s how we are referring to him, anyway.  This seemed like a lot of children for one couple – maybe the cousins were playing together or something? 🙂

York County Historical Center

Last week I went & got a tour from Mallory and her supervisor Carly at the Historical Center of York County, where Mallory is interning this summer.  They are mostly a record keeping and research site, but they did have one great display case that Mallory had been wanting me to come and see of hats, of all things, from throughout York County history.  She said she knew I would love it, and she was right.  I obviously had my finger over part of the lens when I tried to take a picture of the aviator cap, dang it. Still it was very cool.

Joshie’s Houses

Last weekend when we were in Tennessee burying Momma’s ashes we spent Saturday morning touring a couple of the houses that Josh is working on now – he said he currently has five in progress. He is a construction manager for Castle Homes, which builds fancy dancy houses in the Nashville area. Jeff & I are hoping to get a walk-in shower put in soon, and I loved this one in the first house we toured. Zollie told me it is called a curbless shower, but Josh said it would be very difficult (read: expensive) to add one like that, because all of the bones are different in the area where it is placed. Still, I thought it looked so cool.

When we got back to Murfreesboro we headed out to the house where we lived on Lascassas Road, where Sher buried some of Gran’s ashes. It was a good day.

Crazy Mason’s

Yesterday Mason & I headed to Concord to visit Crazy Mason’s Milkshake Bar. I’d wanted to take him since I first heard about it a couple of months ago. Then when I was at the beach last week, my friend Charlotte’s grandson Jordan came over to visit, and he works at the one in Wilmington, so that reminded me that we needed to go before school starts back in three weeks (!!!) It was just a great place. Here are a couple of pictures.

Vacation Thursday

We had another good, low key day when we were on vacation on Thursday. In addition to more time at the pool and on the goofy golf course, June & I went to a craft class, where we decorated tote bags. Everyone else used the stencils that were provided, but creative June just went with her own design. I thought she did an amazing job. Our plans for the following day were to visit the Emily Dickinson Home – in fact, that was our reason for the entire vacation – so I especially loved June’s tote. The quotes on the handles are from Taylor Swift songs, who, as it turns out, is Emily Dickinson’s 6th cousin. How very cool.

Also spent some time hanging out in the arcade. It was another good day just hanging around the resort.
