Jeff has wanted a patio poured outside our basement since we built this house 25 years ago, and last week it finally happened. The first day all they did was dump junk wood in the front yard to use to build the form to pour the concrete.

Last week Meg & I spent a day taking a tour around Rock Hill and Fort Mill, checking out all of the murals that had been painted on buildings. I had no idea there were so many – it was great fun. Our first stop was the Main Library in Rock Hill, where the mural commemorating the work of Vernon Grant, Rock Hill native and creator of the Rick Krispie Snap, Crackle, and Pop characters, wrapped around the building. It was very cool.

This one, also in downtown Rock Hill, was one of my favorites.

Last Saturday afternoon Jeff & I headed to Shelby – about an hour down the road – to attend the wedding of some friends. They are just a little younger than us, a widow and widower, old hippies, and the entire wedding was tie-dyed. It was so cute and fun. This is the only picture I got, of the bride, but the groom had on a tie-dyed shirt, too.

We got a kick our of this truck when we passed it on the way home 🙂

Friday night Jeff & I were in Rock Hill to see Adam and the Bearcats in action on the football field. Alas, none of my action shots turned out that great, but I did get this one of him sitting on the sidelines when he came off the field.

And this one after the game, celebrating a Bearcats victory. It was a fun night.

We had some sad family news last week. A good friend of Elise’s from high school delivered a still born baby, so Boo came over from Murrells Inlet to go to the funeral with Elise. Afterwards they came by here to eat a gourmet supper of tuna salad sandwiches & chips – and Leesy said it reminded her of being at Granny’s house, so I figured that had been the perfect thing for us to have. The little mama had requested that everyone wear bright colors to the funeral, and Boo & Elise did a good job with that. I got this picture of them as they were getting ready to leave.
