Art in Bloom

Sunday Meg & I left after church to head to the Columbia Museum of Art, to take in the annual Art in Bloom exhibit. Different garden clubs in the area are each assigned different paintings or other pieces from the museum’s collection – they literally draw numbers out of a hat – and the design and create a flower arrangement interpreting it. I have wanted to go to this for years, and this year we finally made it happen. Here are some pictures of one of my favorites. And the lady leading our tour was just amazing. Every piece was displayed on an identical column, but the vases and other parts of the display tied into the paintings, too – like this one was placed on a mirror, like the mirror in the painting. And all of those fresh flowers – amazing.

The display going up the banister of the staircase was a breathtaking way to begin the tour. Just lovely.
