This weekend is our annual Festival of Tables at church. I am not nearly talented enough to decorate a table, but spend the morning at church making all the jello for the luncheon itself. Lots of people were there setting up their tables, and they were just amazing. The fireman one was one of my favorites 🙂
Battle of the Books
Today was the Clover School District Battle of the Books competition, between all the elementary schools in town. Each school sent three teams – Mal’s team named themselves the Bookaneers :-). They ended up in fourth place – just one place out of the medal categories – but out of 18 teams, we thought that was pretty good. Here are Chesnee, Katie, Mallory, and Alexis. They did great!

Charlie’s game
Monday night I didn’t have small group, so was able to go with Jeff to Charlie’s final baseball game of the regular season. We were sitting right at first base, so I got this picture of him when he was getting ready to head towards second. It ended up being a pretty bad night – lots of parents who behaved abominably – but Char did score, anyway.
Pentecost Sunday
Our busy Saturday
What a fun, busy day we had today. Adam spent last night with us, so was here this morning for our round of games. We started out at June’s softball game – her last of the regular season, and we don’t look for them to go very far in the playoffs, actually – where she hit her first career home run. Proud family right here 🙂
Then I took Adam home, ran a couple of errands, and met Jeff at Winthrop to see Mallory and Clara perform in their spring recital – Beauty and the Beast. Here they are afterwards with their proud momma and daddy.
We went out to eat supper with some of the other dancers and their families, and then headed back to see the recital again, because Clara was doing a different dance than she’d done earlier in the day. Here are our Silverware and our Candle with their proud Big Mama and Papa after that performance. What a good, busy day!
Last night Andrew was chaperoning Charlie’s sleepover at church, and Jenny was working, so Adam spent the night with us. He and I ran into the high school art show in town, and then stopped by to feed and play with Little Hope’s cat Tazar before we came home, changed into pj’s, and spent a couple of fun hours eating ice cream and playing Crazy 8’s :-). Good times.
Thursday evening
We had big plans Thursday afternoon. Mal was getting ready for her recital, so I took Clara, June, and Mason to the Lake Wylie Library, where someone from Edventure, the children’s museum in Columbia, was supposed to be coming to do a STEM program. Alas, when we got there – along with 30 other 6,7, & 8 year olds, and their parents – the presenter never showed up. Addie came by & picked June and Mason up on her way home – we were going to be cutting it close time wise with them anyway, because June had softball pictures that evening – and Clara fell dead asleep in the car on the way home. How in the world can they sleep like that? I mean she was sleeping so hard it took me a while to wake her up when we got home :-). That sweet girl.
Maytona 5K
This morning was the first annual Maytona 5K, a race to raise money for the Bethany Elementary PTO. Sherri was in town, so she and I went to help out, along with Lindee and Mallory, although Mal actually ran. Here she is running, as she was coming back to the pivot point where Sher & I were stationed – almost back to the finish line at our church. I was so proud that she ran it! Her teacher, Mrs. Burgess, had told them that if they beat her in the race they wouldn’t have any more homework for the rest of the year. Mal didn’t quite beat her, although she wasn’t far behind, but then she was very excited when Mrs. Burgess told her that she’d decided that none of the kids who participated would have homework for the rest of the year. Yay!
LIndee and Mal showing off their official race T-shirts. It was a good day, and I thought a really great race for it to be their first one ever.
