After Clara’s Soccer Game

Yesterday we were at Oakridge Middle School, Clara and her Clover Middle’s cross-town rivals, for the big soccer showdown. Clover came out on top, 3-1, and it was a great game. One of my dearest friends, Evie, came to see her play, and I got this picture of them together afterwards.

There is a family at church that need a good bit of help, and Evelyn has absolutely been a saint to those kids. Hunter had said he’d like to see a soccer match, so Evelyn brought him along with her. I got this picture of the two of them afterwards, too.

Church Pretties

Sunday after church we had our UMW meeting, with everyone bringing appetizers to share. I thought the table decorations were so perfect for St Patrick’s Day.

Before I left the church to head home I went upstairs to get a picture of our Lenten altar display. Our Worship Arts committee does an amazing job during the special seasons of the church year of making our time spent in the sanctuary even more meaningful.

June’s first dance competition

Yesterday we were at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium for June’s first ever dance competition. We weren’t actually supposed to take pictures, but I sneaked and took a couple. I got this one when they won second place for the production number, Back to the Nineties. I’m not going to lie, I’m not sure where June is in this picture, but I’m keeping it anyway so she can see if she can find herself 🙂

Their Musical Theater performance was Always a Wildcat, from High School Musical. I thought it was so cute. The girls in this dance were all invited to New York next summer to take dance classes and do other New York-y things. So proud of how good they did.

James Dean

This may have been our last jigsaw puzzle of the winter – it may have been the hardest one we’ve ever worked. And then after all of those hours, two pieces were missing when we got to the end. Jeff made some replacements, which you can pick out, but I didn’t think he did a terrible job. Ready to pass it on to Mallory.

Yesterday’s Pictures

Meg & I went out to eat lunch at a new-to-us Italian place yesterday (delicious.) Meg found it because as bad as this sounds, I had never been to see where Andrew works. So after we finished eating we headed over there. Back pre-covid he wasn’t in the office on Tuesdays – he was out seeing customers – so I wasn’t going to stop, but then decided just to make sure he wasn’t there. And sure enough he was standing there in the showroom when I walked in the door. He stood outside & we talked for probably fifteen or twenty minutes, but the pictures I tried to get of him in front of the sign didn’t really turn out. Still, I was glad to finally get by there.

Then last night was Clara’s first soccer game of the season for Clover Middle School. They won big – I think 11-0 – against York Prep, and Clara played most of the game. I got this picture of her afterwards, before we headed to church for pancake supper for Shrove Tuesday.

Soccer Scrimmage

On Saturday Jeff & I were in Charlotte to watch Clara play in a scrimmage game with her travel soccer team, getting ready for the season to start up very soon. They tied 1-1, but played much better than the score showed. Here are a couple of pictures – one during the game (she’s the one to the far left) and one afterwards.
