Back at the Track

Last night we were back on our Friday nights at BMX schedule, but this time instead of Charlie – the whole broken arm thing – we were watching Adam.  He raced back when Charlie first started, but only for a little while, and then took some time off.  He started back a couple of weeks ago, though, and has won every race he’s been in since.  Last night was no exception.  Here he is on the gate – far left, in the blue

And afterwards, with his first place trophy 🙂

Golf Tournament

Wednesday Jeff took Adam to BMX camp and went to sit with an injured Charlie, so taking the girls to their end-of-the-summer golf tournament fell to me.  It was my first time driving a golf cart, but luckily no golfers or spectators were injured in my inaugural drive.  I was with Mallory and her partner on the course, Cooper – another mother had Clara and Greyson playing ahead of us.  In this picture I was trying to get Mallory as she was kneeling down looking at the ball from the other side of the hole, just like Tiger does on TV, but alas, she was already standing up by the time I got my camera out.  It’s the clearest picture I took all day, though, so there you have it.

Rainy Weather

The week we were at the beach it rained five inches – good thing we all enjoyed being together so much!  We stay at my friend Becky’s house while we are there, and when we were driving back home from a shopping outing one afternoon we noticed that her neighbor had put out rubber duckies around the pond that used to be his front yard.  That made us chuckle, and we had to get a picture, of course 🙂

Overnight in Hershey

We decided to get on the road right after the induction ceremony, heading south, since Lindee had to be back at work Tuesday morning.  Boo, who was driving, suggested we aim for Hershey, which was about a four hour drive.  Lindee got on her phone and found us the greatest little mom & pop motel to stay in – my favorite kind!  If I ever go back to Hershey, I hope I can stay here again!

Sunday, Part 2

I wondered while we were there how the Hall of Fame came to be built in the tiny village of Cooperstown, so was excited to find this bit of info.

There was a very interesting, well done exhibit on the Negro Baseball Leagues. It breaks my heart to think that things like this actually happened surrounding our national pastime, but there you have it. Sad, sad.

In the Hall

We got up early Sunday morning to get to the Hall about when it opened, so we could actually SEE the Hall of Fame itself, as opposed to the museum where we’d spent the day before.  They had a special display of the memorabilia cases for all the folks who were being inducted this year, so we spent lots of time looking at all of Chipper’s memories.

Then it was on into the Hall, where the first member of the Big Red Machine that we found on the walls was Sparky Anderson. Jeff was pretty fired up.
