I headed to Pineville on our Christmas Break adventure, to visit this museum that I&#8217;d never been to.\u00a0 We spent some time in the museum to begin our time there, where half was devoted to his early life in Mecklenburg County &#8211; his family moved to Columbia, TN, when he was 11, the oldest of five children (five more were born after they moved) &#8211; and about half to his presidency.\u00a0 I missed a lot of the presidency information &#8211; the kids were getting antsy &#8211; but I loved the part about this childhood that I did get to see.\u00a0 And I especially loved reading this where his father took him home from his baptism, and when he was finally baptized, it was as a Methodist \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_4742-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5008\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_4742-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_4742-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_4742-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_4742-690x518.jpg 690w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_4742-980x735.jpg 980w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We absolutely loved the guided tour we went on of the actual old buildings, although they were not the buildings that James K Polk actually lived in.\u00a0 Of course no one knew he would someday be president, so those buildings weren&#8217;t preserved.\u00a0 There were three buildings there, though, that had been moved from other parts of Mecklenburg County, and were from a little later era than when the Polks lived there, but fairly close.\u00a0 June had taken my camera\u00a0by then, and got this picture of the little guys \u00a0listening to our tour guide.\u00a0 This was in the kitchen building, which would have been their original cabin, until they built the bigger house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_4757-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5009\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_4757-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_4757-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_4757-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_4757-690x518.jpg 690w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_4757-980x735.jpg 980w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday Charlie, June, Adam, Mason, &amp;
