{"id":4719,"date":"2018-10-17T10:29:09","date_gmt":"2018-10-17T10:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/?p=4719"},"modified":"2018-10-17T10:29:09","modified_gmt":"2018-10-17T10:29:09","slug":"hiking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/?p=4719","title":{"rendered":"Hiking!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Charlotte and I have never done any hiking on our birthday trips before.\u00a0 As a matter of fact I&#8217;m not sure Charlotte has ever done much hiking ever.\u00a0 I really wanted to check out the Road to Nowhere that I&#8217;d heard about, though, so Saturday morning we got up and headed over.\u00a0 When the government took people&#8217;s land to create Fontana Lake back in the 1940&#8217;s the powers that be promised them a road would be created all the way around the lake &#8211; 200+ miles.\u00a0 Being the government, though &#8211; and in all fairness it was during WWII &#8211; they built about five miles of it, including this tunnel, which is the very end of how far they got.\u00a0 Beyond it it&#8217;s all dirt hiking trails.\u00a0 It was pretty cool to see, though, even with all the graffiti.<a href=\"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_3767.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-4716\" src=\"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_3767-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"980\" height=\"735\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_3767-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_3767-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_3767-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_3767-690x518.jpg 690w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_3767-980x735.jpg 980w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When we were at the Visitors Center the day before Charlotte got lots of info from the man working there, including information about three waterfalls that were near the tunnel.
