At the museum yesterday, my favorite site was the Roundhouse, which is where the locomotives were put into bays for storage and cleaning.\u00a0 There were all sorts of interesting displays, of course.\u00a0 This was one of my favorites.\u00a0 After WWII, the country of France\u00a0gifted the United States with a train of 49 Gratitude Cars, one for each of the\u00a048 states at the time, and one for the District of Columbia, to thank the country for saving theirs.\u00a0 This is the NC car.\u00a0 I had never heard of that, but after visiting the D-Day Memorial last year, I loved\u00a0seeing it.\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There was also an entire room dedicated to flight in North Carolina.\u00a0 Needless to say, Kitty Hawk was the centerpiece.\u00a0 The kids loved getting their pictures made with the plane in the background.\u00a0 And Charlie, especially, loved remembering that we had see pieces of the original plane when we were at the Smithsonian last year.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
