{"id":4054,"date":"2018-04-05T23:32:44","date_gmt":"2018-04-05T23:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/?p=4054"},"modified":"2018-04-05T23:32:44","modified_gmt":"2018-04-05T23:32:44","slug":"presidential-culinary-museum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/?p=4054","title":{"rendered":"Presidential Culinary Museum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What a special spring break adventure we had today, when Jeff, Mallory, Clara, and I headed to Grover, NC, to take in the Presidential Culinary Museum.\u00a0 Mallory and I had seen the billboards about it, and we just decided this was the perfect time to go check it out.\u00a0 We got there in time to take in the guided tour, and it really was so interesting.\u00a0 This was in a display about the presidents and the British, and all of the displays had lots of interesting items, but a good many of them revolved around food.\u00a0 I had heard this story before, about the time Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt entertained the King and Queen of England (I did learn today that it was the first time a British monarch had ever visited the United States &#8211; in 1939), and fed them hotdogs.\u00a0 This is the letter the queen wrote to her mother about their visit, where she talks about eating the hotdogs.\u00a0 The guide told us that she insisted on eating it with a knife and fork, and that the king, especially, loved them.<a href=\"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_0865.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-4055\" src=\"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_0865-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"980\" height=\"735\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_0865-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_0865-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_0865-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_0865-690x518.jpg 690w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_0865-980x735.jpg 980w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jeff took this picture of the girls and me relaxing on the porch of the museum after we finished our tour.
