Today Mallory, Clara, and I went on our end-of-the-summer adventure, to the Carolinas Aviation Museum at the airport in Charlotte.\u00a0 I had been wanting to go for a long time, so we headed up there, along with Charlotte’s granddaughter Brenna.\u00a0 She and Clara are almost exactly the same age, and they always have a good time together.\u00a0 There was an scavenger hunt for the kids to fill out, and Mallory especially loved that.\u00a0 Mostly Clara and Brenna just ran around checking out the exhibits, especially the ones where they could get in the cockpits.\u00a0 \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Hands down the centerpiece of the museum was the Miracle on the Hudson, the actual plane that Sully Sullenberg landed in the river.\u00a0 It was en route from New York to Charlotte when it crashed, so it was only fitting that it be displayed here.\u00a0 Here are the girls standing by the plane, in front of one of the life rafts that were on the plane that day.\u00a0 It was a very moving tribute.\u00a0 There was a great documentary that I insisted the little girls watch, and they were pretty enthralled with it, too.<\/p>\n

Picnic after we finished going through the museum, outside near the runway, and right beside the outdoor exhibits.\u00a0 You can just see an American Airlines plane behind the supersonic display that was coming in for a landing.\u00a0 Very cool.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
