{"id":256,"date":"2014-07-14T17:05:05","date_gmt":"2014-07-14T17:05:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/?p=256"},"modified":"2014-07-14T17:05:05","modified_gmt":"2014-07-14T17:05:05","slug":"chancellorsville","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/?p=256","title":{"rendered":"Chancellorsville"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The cabins where we were staying outside Washington, DC, adjoined the Battlefield at Chancellorsville, so we headed over there the second day we were on vacation.\u00a0 I do love a good battlefield.\u00a0 In case you&#8217;ve forgotten, Chancellorsville is where Stonewall Jackson was killed &#8211; shot by friendly fire.\u00a0 It was a great museum &amp; movie &#8211; both had very recently been updated &#8211; so they were very enjoyable.\u00a0 I found this sign very interesting, &amp; am going to have to do some more checking on it.\u00a0 I thought for sure that when I was at the site of the Battle of Yorktown several years ago, there were trenches you could still see that the soldiers had dug then.\u00a0 Maybe I&#8217;ll just have to plan a return trip there!\u00a0 This also makes me a little sad we didn&#8217;t have time to check out the battlefields at either Spotsylvania or the Wilderness.\u00a0 That definitely calls for another trip.<a href=\"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/get-attachment11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-257\" src=\"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/get-attachment11-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"get-attachment\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/get-attachment11-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/get-attachment11-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/get-attachment11-690x920.jpg 690w, https:\/\/bigmamasdaycamp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/get-attachment11-980x1306.jpg 980w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We took a short walking tour led by one of the national park rangers &#8211; they are always so, so good and knowledgeable &#8211; and then went on the self guided driving trail.\u00a0 That actually involved quite a bit of walking, too.\u00a0 At one of the stops there was a fork in the path, so Mallory &amp;
