Linville Caverns and Linville Falls

Another fun spring break adventure today, when I took Charlie and Adam to visit Linville Caverns. They had never been in a cave before, so they really loved it. I wish the pictures had turned out better, but the lighting wasn’t that bright on the tour, so you can’t really see the formations that good in the picture. This one was called The Bat, and it really did look like a huge bat. The bats had already left the cave for the summer – although as cool as it was up there today they probably with they’d stayed a little bit longer!

Then we headed up to Linville Falls, where we had a very cold picnic, and then hiked down to see the falls.  In a funny turn of events, just as we were putting everything back in the car after we ate lunch, a little boy that’s in scouts with Adam came by with his brother and mother, and they told us the quickest way to get down there.  Here are the boys heading down.  Alas, my pictures of them with the waterfalls didn’t turn out :-(.  It was a good, good day, though.
