Final Golf Tournament

Last Wednesday I got back from the beach just in time to get to Mallory’s final golf tournament of the summer. I will never understand how those kids can play in that heat. She did a good job, but finished up as runner-up for the upper state tournament. This is the only picture I got of her all day.

In Southport

Last week was our annual Beached Whale outing with my buddies at Sunset Beach in NC. We didn’t go last year – Covid just made us too nervous – but we went for a few days this year. So much fun. We spent one day in Southport, a port city maybe 45 minutes north of Sunset Beach, and had a great time. The visitors center had a great museum with lots of history about the town, including information about this author who grew up there. I’d never heard of him before, but I think I’m going to want to see if I can find any of his books.

American Girl Doll Store

With my granddaughters all teenagers now, I wasn’t sure I’d ever have call to go to an American Girl Doll Store ever again. But last Saturday Tabitha brought Lynleigh and Whitley-Grace up to spend the night and visit. It was their first time ever to see one, and the girls were so excited. We had great fun. Here is Lynleigh Rose face-timing with her dad, showing him all of the treasures…

…and Whitley-Grace showing off her Isabella’s new hairstyle that she got at the beauty shop there (and her painted fingernails, too 🙂 )

Sliding Rock

After we left Looking Glass Falls yesterday, we headed over to spend a couple of hours at Sliding Rock. Here is Adam on his first trip down, getting ready to hit that 50 degree pool of water at the bottom. I think from the look on his face that just with his feet in it, he could tell it was going to be sort of brutal 🙂

And Mallory on her way down. So much fun.

Looking Glass Falls

Today Mallory, Clara, Adam, & I went up to the mountains in NC to spend the day before they start back to school in ten days. Our first stop was Looking Glass Falls. It was just beautiful. Here are a couple of pictures, plus my partners-in-crime for the day 🙂

At the golf course

Yesterday we were at the golf course for Mallory’s last regular season match of her junior golf season. She played great – her best score ever, as a matter of fact, with an 81. I got this action photo.

One real highlight of the day is that she was paired with her friend Teryn. They played together on the Clover High team until Teryn transferred to Legion Academy, and got to be good freinds. They always have fun together.

Immersive Van Gogh

Saturday Lee’s mom Bennie & I headed into Charlotte to take in the Van Gogh exhibit. It was just the coolest thing. There really isn’t anyway to describe what you were seeing, and still pictures just cannot do it justice. And of course Starry Night was one of my favorite parts. I loved it!
