Clover Elite 07

This afternoon was our first chance this season to watch Clara & her teammates in action on the soccer field. They didn’t come out on top, but they played hard. Here is Clara in action – some serious body checking going on!

After the match, with her proud Papa. It was the first chance he’d had to wear the soccer shirt the Dovers got him last year for Christmas 🙂

Hummers

We have three hummingbirds that spend most of their time dive-bombing each other, trying to keep the others away from the feeders. Jeff worked for a long time today, but just couldn’t manage to get all three in the same picture. They are too quick.

Debbie’s Visit

Last Monday a high school friend of Jeff’s, Debbie, came to spend the day. She has recently retired and moved to Sumter, SC, with her daughter and family. It was so much fun catching up.

Dirt Work

Jeff has finished up his second load of dirt, trying to get the front yard leveled up and ready for grass planting this fall. One more load to go. I got this picture of him mashing all the dirt down.

Sleepover

Last week Adam & Mason spent the night for the first time since quarantine started back in March. They were so cute – they stayed up all night long, & were still awake when I went in to check on them when I got up at 6. But when I went back about 6:45, they had both crashed. Such sweeties.

At the car show

This morning I picked Charlie & Adam up for our first outing together since pre-covid days. We went straight and got June & Mason to join us, & spent the morning at the car show at Caldwell Chevrolet here in town. It was a great day, and we had so much fun. Here are a couple of pictures.’

More from Lake Lure

One more from the Flower Bridge. This was actually taken at the end of a little trail leading down to the river, looking back up at the Flower Bridge. Just so pretty.

And we spent time at the River Walk – climbing rocks, wading in the river in that cold mountain water. Also beautiful.

Lake Lure Flowering Bridge

Today I rode with the Yarbroughs up to Lake Lure. We had planned on spending the day at the beach there, but when checking the website before we left town, realized that it closed down for the season yesterday :-(. Since the kids were so looking forward to the trip (the adults, too), we decided to go on up & just see what we could see. We spent a good part of the morning at the Flowering Bridge. This is the old highway roadbed that was replaced with a new bridge, and has been turned into the most amazing flower garden. Absolutely beautiful. There was just more than you could take in – something new to see almost every step you took, like this birdfeeder made out of a cup and saucer.

There were replicas of books, which were really painted stepping stones, all around the garden. This was one of our favorites.
