More Rock Wall Pix

Before we headed up to Indiana earlier in the week, Jeff went out & made a few more pictures of his handiwork so he could show his parents & siblings when we got up here. It’s still impressive.

Showing all the back filling he’s gotten done.

At the soccer game

Sunday afternoon I hurried home from church, fixed us a quick lunch to eat in the car, and hit the road for Lexington, SC, to watch Clara and her teammates play soccer.  Sherri had been at Gran’s all week, so on her way home she joined us.  Clover lost, but I did get this picture of our star with her great aunt after the game 🙂

Kimbrell & Ellie’s birthday party

Tuesday morning the Clover grands & I hit the road for Spartanburg, to celebrate Kimbrell’s 5th & Ellie’s 3rd birthdays. They are just getting so big, and it was so much fun spending time with them. Ellie didn’t remember us at all, but it didn’t take long for Kimbrell to warm right up to the kids. I got this picture of them when she brought her plate of pizza over from the kids’ table to eat with the big guys 🙂

Singing Happy Birthday. Ellie was less excited about being the center of attention 🙂

Final Quilt Show Pix

Apparently there is a challenge every year for quilters who want to participate. This year it was called the Color My World challenge. Each challenge participant was give a paint sample strip, and they had to create a quilted square with so many of the colors off the strip (I can’t remember how many) that depicted something in nature. It was incredible how different and beautiful they all were. This was one of my favorites.

And this won first place in the hand pieced category – The Wedding Purse. I just thought it was so beautiful and also creative. It was just such a fun day.

Quilt Show

The quilt show was just so impressive. Just so many different kinds of these very special works of art. This table runner was one of my very favorite pieces in the whole show. It was made with vintage fabric from the 1930’s. The sign said that once the maker decided on a pattern, she made the piece the size of the fabric she had, and this was the result. So beautiful.

One of the sections I really enjoyed was the one where the projects done by quilting groups were displayed. All the different ways they chose to do those projects was so interesting to me – and the work was absolutely gorgeous.

Friday Pix

Friday morning my friends Meg, Sherry Adams, & I headed to Cherry Park Elementary School to see Adam’s 5th grade history project presentation.  Jeff came too, but he drove separately, because my buds & I were leaving straight from there for the Charlotte Quilt Show.  Adam was General George S Patton for this project, and he did an amazing job.  Gave his speech borth in French and in English.  Impressive, to say the least.  Here he is with his fan club.

The quilt show was absolutely amazing.  There were 200 award winning quilts on display, and every single one of them was just amazing.  More pix to follow as I get them downloaded.  This is one of many that I thought were absolutely beautiful.

Grandkids Today

Great time with the Clover grands today. I surprised Mason & took Bojangles to school to eat with him. He was excited, and kept on thanking me – and waited on my when I stopped to talk to his teacher on the way back to his classroom (she goes to our church), & gave me a big hug before I left. Sweet time.

Then after I picked the girls up when school was over, we headed to the coffee shop for a snack and some together time. I made them all leave their phones in the car, so we visited and played team checkers, & just had a great time.

Way of the Cross

In one of the hallways at church is a display of fourteen pictures drawn by kids at church, of the last day on earth of Jesus. They just did such a good job, and it is so moving. I am looking forward to spending more time studying them during this season of Lent.

The Big Burn

Jeff & I had been planning to spend the day Monday burning some of the accumulated debris he’d been gathering out of the woods that fell over the course of the winter. Clara came down with a stomach virus, so was out of school and here for the day, and I couldn’t help as much as we’d originally planned. Since she had her phone, though, & could call if she needed me, I did go down & help for a while. And got this picture as I was heading down that way.
