Clara – Tuesday

Yesterday Clara helped me make chicken pot pies for supper.  I hate we didn’t have time for her to help me pick the meat off the chicken bones, but I knew I needed to that part ahead of time.  Here she is dividing the meat up into the two pans – one for their house and one for ours.  And Keaton is in the background keeping us company.

Today was her orthodontist appointment to get her braces off, so I got one final picture of her metal mouth smile before that happened.

Saturday morning basketball

Charlie had his first – and last – playoff game Saturday morning.  Reports were that last time they played this team it was a really close game, but that wasn’t the case this week.  They still played hard and seemed to have a good time.  And after the game, Charlie – in the #2 vest type thing – gave the closing prayer.  Proud of these guys.  On to BMX!

From Mt Holly, where Charlie played, we headed to Oakland Avenue to see Adam’s game.  They, too, went down in defeat, but he had quite the cheering section there for him (they had also been at Charlie’s game.)  I got this picture afterwards.  Thanks, Sher & Elise, for coming out to cheer them on!

Chris Nole

Thursday night was another auditorium program in town:  Jim Curry, who has a John Denver tribute band.  It really was one of the best shows I’ve seen there in a long time.  The pianist, Chris Nole, who played with him actually had played with John Denver at the very end of his career, and was actually amazing.  I could’ve listened to him play all night.

June at Quiz Team

So proud of our CMS quiz teams today.  All three grade levels won their matches against Andrew Jackson.  I got this picture of June just as the sixth grade was getting ready to begin, when she was serving as captain.  And the sixth grade only had three members of their team there, to play against five from Andrew Jackson.  We were proud!

National Junior Scholar

Last night Jeff & I met Lindee & Jackson at the auditorium, where Mallory and her fellow Clover School District 8th grade Junior Scholars were recognized.  I got this picture of the three of them afterwards.  So proud of our girl.

Country Style Steak

I had great kitchen help this week when I was doing some cooking.  Really – she has gotten to where she can do pretty much anything called for in a recipe, but dredging the meat in flour continues to be one of her favorite steps.  And then she still likes playing with the flour when this step is finished :-).  Still a mess to clean up, but she surely does have a good time!

Wednesday Pix

Work started early on the guest room redo.  Jeff has all of the baseboards painted.

Then yesterday we were off to watch the quiz teams in action.  The match was at Oakridge, CMS’s cross town rival.  Mallory was out of school sick with a stomach virus again, but June and the sixth grade team did a great job, and won in a tie-breaker.
