Sunday at church

This month at church Tommy is doing a series of sermons on the 23rd Psalm, and one of our youth, Micah, painted this picture that’s on display in the lobby to go along with is.  I love it.

Then during the service the Bible school kids sang songs that they learned during the week, including “They Will Know We Are Christians by Our Love,” a song from my youth. It was the general consensus favorite, which I loved. That’s Mason in the white shirt.

June’s 10th Birthday Party

Hard to believe our big is going to be turning ten years old this week – she had her party today, at our friends Charlotte and Bob’s pool.  They are so kind to let us use it.  We got this group shot of the kids enjoying the water.  From the left are Little Hope, Sage, Ian, Eva Kimrey, June under the waterfall, Marli, Lizzy, Austin behind Mason, Mallory, Brinley, Kailyn, & Clara.  Charlie and Adam are on vacation at Edisto.

Opening presents, with Marli and Lizzy looking on.

Bible School – final night

We finished up last night, except for the kids singing during the church service Sunday morning.  And all of the decorations will be left up for the congregation to see, which I think is a great idea.  It was a great week.  Mason’s family group – the Greens 🙂 – won the prize for bringing in the most cans for the food project, so got ice cream for snack last night.  They were excited!

Parents came for a slide show and to hear some singing at the end of the evening.  That’s June kind of in the middle of the picture, turned around looking behind her :-).

Bible School 2017

This week we’ve been having Bible School:  Paul and the Underground Church in Rome.  While exhausting for the workers, it has been such a good week – the kids seem to have absolutely loved it.  I’ve been working in the Marketplace – the craft area, helping the kids make wreaths for their heads.  This is the first year Mallory has been old enough to be a helper, and she has had a good time with that, too, I think.  She did make a wreath herself 🙂

Singing at the close of the evening:  that’s Mason in the red shirt, and June in the flowers right in front of the camera.  Grace Flows Down!

Tiger World, Part II

A couple more pictures from our fun day yesterday. I thought this picture of all three of the boys that I took just before we headed home turned out so cute 🙂

Our final stop was the bird exhibit. This cockatoo was just right in front of us. The boys said it even had a gray tongue. I’m not even sure how they found that out. Such a good day.

Tiger World, Part I

Today the boys – Charlie, Adam, and Mason – and I headed north of Charlotte to check out Tiger World.  I didn’t know anyone who had ever been there, but had seen the signs on the interstate, and the reviews on TripAdvisor were good, so we thought we’d see what was there.  What a great day.  Everywhere you went, there were peacocks, ducks, geese, and guineas roaming around loose.  Of course we were especially enamored of the one white peacock we saw.

The Outback Exhibit was very cool. A kangaroo always just makes me laugh, and today was no exception 🙂

I just could not get a good picture of any of the white tigers – every time I snapped they turned around or walked behind a pole. They were absolutely beautiful, though.

Busy Sunday

Yesterday was a special day.  Alex & Jeremy had Ellie baptized during our Sunday morning service, and as always, she was just sweet as could be.  Afterwards Alex got a picture of us girls together 🙂

Then that evening we kicked off Bible School. The theme this year is Paul and the Underground Church, and it really is awesome. Charlie liked it so much that he told me he might want to skip BMX practice tomorrow night to come back – what?  Here is one of the green group tables having their hotdog supper to kick off the evening.  From the right are Mason, Carter, Kylee, Charlie, and a little girl I don’t know yet.  It’s going to be a good week.

Courtney’s Shower

This evening I helped host a bridal shower for my friend Sherry’s future daughter-in-law Courtney.  We held it at Charlotte’s house by her pool.  Becky was in charge of the decorations, and she just did such an amazing job.  I loved these lace in embroidery hoops she made to hang around the cabana.

It was a Pampered Chef shower. Our Pampered Chef professional is Ray, who goes to church with us. He got Courtney up there to help him cook, and give her some experience with some of the items that hopefully she received.
