At the Library

Yesterday afternoon I took June and Clara to another  program at the library in town – this one on Backyard Critters.  A lady came from the Museum of York County with all sorts of things for the kids to see and feel, and they loved it.  Here they are checking out the touch box just as we were getting there, along with some of the other kids who were there.100_7354

Their craft for the day was making bird feeders to hang in their yards, which all the kids really enjoyed doing. Here is June showing off her handiwork. Lucky birds!100_7356

Recital Take 3

Sunday afternoon was the final performance of Sleeping Beauty – Mallory had been in seven performances of it over the course of the long weekend, but we had not seen her as a woodpecker, so we headed over again to take that in.  She did a great job.  Here she is afterwards, all smiles :-).100_7347

We were so proud!100_7351

Fun Saturday

What a good day Saturday was.  We started out the morning at the Color Me Fit 5K race in Rock Hill, which the elementary school P.E. teachers were putting on to raise money for their program.  Our group was Addie, June, Adam, Little Hope, and me.  Here we are just starting out, taking our first lap around the track.  That’s Addie in the black pants, and June and Mase next to me.  Hope was walking with me, so she didn’t make the photo.100_7331

That evening was Mallory and Clara’s dance recital. The first night only Mal danced, so we were excited to get to see Clara perform, too. Alas, the night before she fell off their kitchen stool and had to get stitches in her chin on the way to her performance. She was a trooper, though, and fought through the pain and trauma to do a great job, as did her big sister. Here is the cutest woodpecker around…100_7341

Friday Pictures

We had a good afternoon Friday.  That morning was Field Day at Larne Elementary School, where June goes, so Mason went to that with his mom and dad.  It sounded like they all had SUCH fun.  Then they stopped & got lunch, & brought it to us on the way to spend the afternoon at our house.  We picked Hope Riordan up when she got out of school at 12:45, & then the three of them had a great time playing together.  The made what appeared to be fairy houses, and took my camera outside to record their creations.100_7318

Then when they’d played outside long enough that they got hot and tired, they all three headed inside, where we cooled off with a little artwork – pictures made out of Fruit Loops. Here is Mason hard at work on his dragon.  Good times 🙂100_7322

Recital 2015 – Opening Night

Thursday night we went to see Mallory perform in the York County Ballet’s production of Sleeping Beauty.  Here is our little villager afterwards, with her adoring fans me, her cousin Chelsea, and Aunt Moni.  She did such a good job.  And that’s part of her headpiece that looks like it’s growing out of Chelsea’s nose 🙂100_7314

A Ballerina and a Ballplayer

Tuesday with our seven year old granddaughters – one’s mom is getting her hair ready for dress rehearsal for her dance recital this week:100_7295

And one’s team was the runners-up in their U8 softball league this year.  Here she is with her medal.  Love their uniqueness!100_7305

Clara’s Birthday Party, Part 2

Would a seven-year-old’s birthday party be complete without Pin the Tail on the Donkey?  Or, in this case, Pin the Nose on Olaf?  I think not!100_7282

For our gift for Clara, I had our friend Lauren’s daughter Carly do a portrait of Elsa, and then Elsa signed it to Clara before she left the party.  It was a hit – and Carly did SUCH a good job!100_7289

Clara’s Seventh Birthday Party – Part 1

Saturday we celebrated Clara at her birthday party at her house.  As always, Lindee did a great job of planning & carrying out her theme – “Frozen.”  When we first got there the guests were sitting in the kitchen coloring Frozen pages, doing word searches, things like that.  Here are the party girl’s big sister and cousin enjoying that.

Clara’s big surprise at the party was that Elsa came to celebrate with her! She was SO excited – and so were all of us, when we saw what an amazing job Elsa did entertaining the kids and participating in all the activities. She painted the kids’ faces. Most of them wanted Olaf, but Clara’s good, good friend Elizabeth went with this gorgeous sparkly snowflake.

Elsa also did some dancing with the girls, which everyone loved. Here she is dancing away with Clara. Such a special day for our little princess.100_7266

Elise’s Spring Chorus Concert

Tonight we headed to Rock Hill to hear Leesy perform with her high school chorus in their spring program.  They were absolutely awesome.  They did selections from Rent and Showboat, and Elise had a solo in one of the songs from Wicked.  And then the final portion of the program was a medley of old spirituals.  Absolutely beautiful.  That’s Elise on the far right of the front row.100_7218

Afterwards with her BFF’s, Sarah and Mary Catherine. Such a special evening.100_7226
